|
Enshrined in our constitution, is a requirement to assist when possible deserving members, Scottish charities and exceptionally, local charities. Over the years we have made many donations to several charities, mainly local. Whilst every little helps in 2007 it was decided that the council would select one charity each year, named as the President's Charity, to which we would give our full support. This would mean that they would receive a much more significant amount of money at stages throughout the year and therefore be able to make a meaningful difference to the charity and the people it supports. For
2007/08 the selected charity was
Myeloma UK who
benefited to the tune of £1416.03 made
up as follows:- Thank you very much to all who helped raise this terrific sum for your wonderful Scottish generosity, For the 2008/9
season the charity selected by the council is Erskine,
based at Bishopston in Renfrewshire.
Erskine
is
obviously a Scottish charity caring for ex-service men and women. Further
information can be found on their website www.erskin.org.uk. Tim Bowden ~ President June 2008 |
