A warm Medway welcome to the website of the Medway and District Caledonian Association.

The association has been flourishing in North Kent since the early 1920's and is now one of the largest in Kent. The start date appears to be 1923 but the exact details are at present unclear, however, we hope to have a more complete history of the club shown here on the website very soon.

The aims of the association are to promote fellowship and friendship among members, to maintain, as far as possible, the traditions and customs of Scotland, to maintain links with bodies having purposes similar to the objects of the Association; and to assist, when possible, deserving members, Scottish charities and, exceptionally, local charities. This year the Presidents charity is the Eskine Charity that supports ex servicemen and women.

Our main activity is Scottish Country Dancing, interspersed with copious amounts of tea, coffee and conversation with liberal amounts of food at any opportunity. Membership is not just limited to Scots, we are open to all but it is surprising just how many people have some link to Scotland in their family history. The Scots did get about a bit.

Our aim is always to provide a warm welcome and lots of fun to all be they stylish experienced dancers or very much beginners with two left feet. Age is no barrier either as we have junior and adult groups with some members dancing well into their 80’s. So by all means feel free to explore our website and learn more about us but we would much prefer to meet you at one of our many sessions.

Tim Bowden (Past President ~ June 2008)
